October Snow

We had an early snow storm over the weekend that made for a fun snow day on Sunday. We only got 5 or 6 inches, but they were so destructive. Trees, power lines, and branches littered the streets. It was super fun for Ian because we spent a lot of time watching the Bobcats and front end loaders work. He was fascinated, as were Tony and I. We've never seen huge construction equipment like front end loaders clear trees out of the roads before.

This is a picture of a street that is part of our normal "loop" that we walk or bike around. There's no getting down that road for the next few days. The poor houses down there probably will be without power for quite a while.

We went out for a walk to check out the damage in the morning, but quickly abandoned the idea. The snow was done falling, but huge branches kept falling throughout the morning. The snow was so heavy and all the trees still have leaves on them. Not a good combination. It was a much more destructive storm than Irene was.

Ian's good with the snow. We're sure looking forward to the winter ahead. Lots of snow forts, I imagine.
