Thailand was great for unintentional potty training. We didn't do anything prior to the trip to encourage using a toilet because we didn't want to deal with anything but diapers on long flights and unknown places. But twice Ian asked to poop in the potty while we were playing in the pools. Of course, son! Well, we got cocky and thought it would be a piece of cake when we got back home. Just get the guy some fun undies and he'd be good to go. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
"Nooooooo..... Ian want diaper! No Ian want underwear! No Ian poop on the potty!"

Little Man uses "no" to turn a sentence negative.
"No Ian want to go to bed."
"No Ian want to put a coat on."

I don't remember what little man wasn't happy about, but it sure seemed like a big deal at the time to him. He probably wanted a banana or raisins and nuts.

Although I have plenty of photos, I'll spare Ian the embarrassment of his first time pooping in a toilet.

When they were here, Grandpa Cowboy and Grandma T worked on teaching Ian "oak" and "maple." He actually isn't bad on identifying them both now. If he doesn't know, though, the default is oak.

This is an example of something "scary." Ian doesn't even want to see it. He gets too upset to play.

Ian and I were in the car today when I stopped at a stop sign, I looked in the rearview mirror. There I saw Ian shaking his head back and forth. "Ian look both ways at the stop sign." Cute!

Ian has been learning his Spanish lately which makes it really fun when he combines the languages. Today he saw a dog in a car and his comment.... "The perro in the car."

I've been talking to Ian about our big trip coming up. We talk about riding in the big white airplane and who is going to be there. "Mommy. Ian. Uncle Dave Mak." The last couple mornings, I have woken up to Ian talking to himself about the "big white airplane."
His memory is better than I thought it would have been at two. Here is our recent conversation about our September London trip.
Me: Ian, where did we go last time we rode in the big white airplane?
Ian: Donedon.
Me: What did we ride on when we went there?
Ian: Double decker bus.
Me: Who all went on the trip?
Ian: Mommy, Daddy, No-yo, and Ian!

I got home from work today to see a big 'ol patch of hives on Ian's leg. It didn't seem to bother him, but the size of it made me a little nervous. I traced it to see how quickly it grew. About an inch or two in an hour. I was reminded just how healthy this little one is. I don't even know the last time I called his pediatrician. Tonight I was grateful for their all hours answering service.
He also has a brand new stutter. Same day as the hives. I'm guessing it's coincidence since it's pretty common for 2 year olds to go through a stutter phase. But still... it definitely made me take note. It started with the letters N and M, but now is most letters, especially when he gets excited. He has a lot going on with all the words he's learning, plus Spanish. We'll be patient...
